Crazy is not right Mental illness is real and crazy is not a synonym for it. I definitely believe in keeping yourself mentally healthy, but I choose to stay closest to the " crazies" they need true friendship the most. As long as they are not hurting you or anyone else.

Re-read The Tainted Grain story for a healthy response "The only thing worse than watching someone you love suffer as her child falls to a terrible place, is watching those around you judge the one you love." Who does the Shechinah love? I thought G-d was in the healing profes sion. I've never heard of an earthly Father who is content to have his children live in the basement diseased ward of his palace. So why should our Father in Heaven? Empathy = sanity. The broom doesn't judge the dirt swept up Judaism = every sane person for themself?

You are so right! Yay Hitbodedut! Rivka, you are so right! Of course, the ultimate is when we can look the other 'nuts' in the eyes, see their Jewish soul, maybe have them see ours and, together, please HaShem with the same "nuttiness" – which is the path to Him. Meanwhile, I'll continue, with indirect guidance from Rav Arush, Rav Brody, Rebbe Nachman and Rav Nosson, to practice Hitbodedut until I'm genuinely HAPPY with the nut that I am! Only good things.
