don’t crack the mirror! Yehudit, I mentioned both- you need to unburden yourself, but without introspection and trying to uncover your own character flaws, you'll completely miss the message.

mirrors can crack…. the "kids are our mirrors" teaching is very strong, sometimes too strong. Sometimes the reflection is so ugly and overwhelming it can stunt, rather than encourage growth. At these times I stop the analysis, and rely on simple emuna: it's happening because it's Hashem's will. This too shall pass…. sometimes the "truth" is too hard to deal with for a fragile, overburdened, oversensitive mother! So yes, it's great to look critically at ourselves, but it's better to unburden ourselves onto Hashem.
