Can’t wait for the next installment!!! Funny, after 3 kids, I did teshuva because I turned to Hashem out of the intense frustration of, as you say, not being the parent I wanted to be. And what do you know: He gave me ANOTHER THREE!!!!!!!!! Still trying to wrap my head around that one….It's like, ok, without emuna you screwed up. Let's see how you do it now…. It's not going so well, but there are definite small improvements. Baby Steps, as you say, and Hashem has a lot of patience!
