The Jewish Climate Crisis
Jewish communities around the globe are waking up to the disastrous effects that irresponsible living has on our climate. The core problem isn't greenhouse gases, it’s ...
Two years ago, COVID epidemic was almost finished in Israel.
In July 2022, the Lapid government came into power and soon thereafter “gay pride” flags flew over government buildings throughout the Holy Land. That week, COVID cases skyrocketed, forcing a new wave of restrictions on a weary public.
On June 1, 2023, 30,000 people congregated in the holiest city on earth to demonstrate in support of abominations. Over the next 48 hours, Israel bore the heat of hell itself with highs of over 108 degrees. Arabs took advantage of the dry heat with their arson attacks that set the country ablaze. Much like California, our country was on fire with the flames of gehinom (hell).
A week later, on June 9, a similar parade took place in Tel Aviv with 150,000 people. Local temperatures rose to 103 degrees, and it rained. Rain in Israel that falls after Shemini Atzeret of Pesach can be seen as a curse from our Creator.
The American Embassy showed its support of Tel Aviv’s parade by entering a float in the parade and dispatching their ambassador to the event. That week, wildfires in Canada covered 25% of their country. So much ash and toxic smoke was released that people in 13 states in the Midwest, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast US couldn’t leave their homes. More smoke covered a quarter of America than there was in Lower Manhattan on September 11.
Not Climate Change
When heatwaves are the new normal, you can chalk it up to changes in the climate. When the weather is temperate for months, only to spike on the same days that such abominations are committed and cause havoc over 6,000 miles away, it’s not a “natural event.”
Sixteen hundred and fifty-six years from the beginning of creation – long before climate change – sinful behavior caused the greatest climate catastrophe of all time. Homosexual unions, murder, and theft led to the eradication of humanity by the world-wide Great Flood.
Fair Warning
Our sins cause Hashem to shake the earth. In the past 100 years, we seen the following major events:
- In 1918, the great flu pandemic that killed 75 million people and infected about a third of the entire world
- In 2004, a tsunami in India killed over 227,000 people
- In 2010, an earthquake in Haiti killed 300,00 people
- In 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic began that killed over 15,000,000 people
Our Sages warn us that such events come about because of the sins of the Jewish people.
When the Jewish People don’t follow their Father, He has mercy on them. Instead of hitting the Jews with strict justice, He first executes His judgment against the other nations for their acts of idolatry, lewdness, and theft. When the Jews go too far, He warns His children by cutting off His mercy on the other nations first! His message to the Jews is that this judgment was supposed to happen to them!
God smites parts of His world to warn the Jewish People that unless they repent, they might be next. Disasters and catastrophes are meant to serve as a warning to the Jewish People.
Had we been listening and repented, they all might have been averted.
Inclusive Mitzvot
God gave the world seven Noahide commandments. Among them are the laws of sexual morality. He promises blessings to anyone who will fulfill His commandments.
To the Jewish people, Hashem tells them that their mitzvot bring light to the world. Jews bring mankind closer to redemption, to an age where there will be no more sickness, hatred, or want.
A mitzvah redeems mankind. It adds light to everyone regardless of race, gender, social or financial status. It benefits everybody. There is nothing more diverse and inclusive than bringing Hashem’s light to the entire world for all of its inhabitants to enjoy.
When the Bnei Noach follow the Noahide commandments and the Jewish People follow the Torah, Hashem bestows blessings upon them. Those blessings are bestowed regardless of race, gender, sex, economic class, social class, nationality, and religion.
There is no greater service to all the people in this world than for the Jewish People to make teshuva (repentance) so that Hashem doesn’t have to smite the other nations for the Jews’ indiscretions.
How to Change the Climate
To reverse the ominous storms facing the Jewish People, let’s simply find areas of our life that we can redirect to God. Here are some examples:
- Keep the mitzvot of Shabbat.
- Be truthful – don’t lie.
- Recite the Shema twice a day.
- Learn Torah at a set time.
- Find something good in every Jew.
The next time someone hits you up for a donation by scaring you about the fate of the planet, do a mitzvah instead.
Reverse the devastating effects of “climate change” – do teshuva and serve Hashem!
He will save all of us.
