yes, but I agree with generally, however … Regarding research, when one is BT, it is much harder to do the research, as you have to do it yourself. Also, people are so afraid of speaking lashon lara and so desirous for people to just get married that everyone is described in glowing terms. Also people tend to behave better in front of their rav, so usually the rav is the last person who truly knows the person, i.e. they know only the best, shiniest version of that person.
