David the Shepherd Boy, Part 2

When David was just a little boy, he was a shepherd, and he tended his father’s flock of sheep.

David’s father relied on his son’s righteousness and good character. He trusted David to watch the innocent sheep with great care.

David would take the sheep to a field at the bottom of a green, sloping valley, where they could graze and frolic. The field was public land, so it didn’t belong to anyone. It was in an area where everyone was allowed to graze sheep or just visit. David always made sure that his father’s sheep never grazed in other people’s fields. He would never allow them to steal what they ate.

To be continued, G-d willing
