On the way home, little Nachman thanked Hashem: "Thank You, Hashem, for giving me the chance to greet the Shabbat with song and prayer in my father’s wonderful synagogue."

Rebbe Simcha noticed that his sons lips were moving, but couldn’t hear what his son was saying, and asked, "Nachman, my dear son, who are you talking to?"

"I’m talking to Hashem, father. I’m thanking Him for convincing you to take me to the synagogue, and for enabling me to pray to Him with so much joy on this holy Shabbat evening."

"If that’s the case, my son, you can always come with me to the synagogue."

Little Nachman’s heart filled with joy. He was already looking forward to the Shabbat day prayers in the synagogue the next morning. When they returned home that evening to recite Kiddush and to eat the Shabbat evening meal, Rebbe Simcha told the whole family how beautifully Nachman prayed and how wonderfully he behaved in the synagogue. Nachman thanked Hashem for giving him so much to be happy about.
