The Rule of G-d
What did the Sages mean that in the era before Mashiach, “The face of the generation will be like the face of a dog”? Specifically, how does it manifest in our times?
In 2019, the Chinese committed a crime against humanity. Knowing how deadly and contagious COVID-19 was, they willingly allowed thousands of infected people to travel the four corners of the earth and shutdown mankind.
Had they taken responsibility and imposed lock-downs immediately, the world would be a much different place. Most of the 6.6 million people who died of COVID-19 might still be alive.
To this day, no one has been able to hold China accountable for the worst attack on the entire world in over 75 years.
In 2020, every economy on earth roiled as China kept growing. Throughout the year, China confiscated medical supplies made by American companies, resulting in more death and disease.
While the UN persecutes Israel, not a single motion has been made to sanction the Chinese for their complacency in the Wuhan Virus.
It feels like we live in a world led by dogs, and they are winning.
What is a Dog Anyway?
The term “dog” comes from the original word “canine”, which possibly comes from “Canaan”. A dog’s job is to guard the sheep. Flocks of hundreds of sheep go from place to place looking for green pasture to eat, and the dogs form a perimeter, making sure the sheep all stay in one general area.
If dogs ruled the world, there would be chaos. The sheep would go up steep hills and get injured. They would eat in places that belonged to others, causing unnecessary war and bloodshed.
It is the shepherd that leads the dogs. The shepherd trains them to follow a strict set of rules. As long as the dogs obey their shepherd, there is order.
If they don’t obey, they are put to sleep.
It’s the shepherd that rules over all his creatures, dogs and sheep alike.
China may have run amok like a rabid dog, but the Shepherd of the world restored justice.
As the rest of the world enjoys relative stability and prosperity, China, as a nation, is teetering on the verge of full-scale implosion. Not since the student revolt of Tienanmen Square (1989) has China gone through so much chaos.
You cannot act unjustly in the world He made for justice. You cannot act like a dog, deluding yourself that there is no Shepherd.
Iran
Iran has spent the last half a century using G-d as a means of extortion. In the name of holiness, they have done the absolute opposite.
They have gone in whichever way they want, disregarding the proper path our Shepherd sets out for us.
They too are on the brink of collapse.
They deluded themselves into thinking the dogs can rule the sheep as they wish.
The Shepherd is proving them wrong.
Israel
With the incoming government in Israel, there is a new debate.
Should we be a halachic state?
The prevailing argument is that because two thirds of the Jewish People in Israel do not want a State governed by Jewish Law, it should remain a secular institution.
The other argument is that we are a Jewish State, which should therefore be run by Jewish Law.
Both sides are wrong.
We already are a halachic state.
We are already a halachic world.
The world is run by Torah. The rule of law is the Word of G-d.
How do we know a law exists? By the consequences in breaking it.
For example, how can we prove the law of gravity? Take three dinner plates and throw them in the air. The shattered pieces that result prove the point.
Whether or not we acknowledge the truth, the Law of Shabbat is the law of the Land. Break it at your own risk. The Law of Guarding the Brit, the law of sexual morality, is the law of the Land.
The commandment of the Brit is embodied by Joseph our Tzaddik. As a nation, we are not as diligent as we can be in this commandment. Consequently, Joseph’s resting place in Schem is controlled by our enemies, who don’t let us pray there. The same with the other parts of the Land our forefathers legally purchased.
Even with the most advanced army on earth and the bravest soldiers in the world, we have no hold on our own country. Despite our physical and material advantage over our enemies, we cannot even secure our own cities.
To add insult to injury, we cannot even access most of our Sacred Places – they are barred to Jews, but not to Christians or Muslims.
Follow The Law
The Gemara (Sanhedrin 97a) warns that in the End of Days, our leaders will have the face of a dog.
They will be like animals who dominate their sheep as if there is no Shepherd.
Rabbi Nachman warns us that brazenness is kingship without a crown (Sanhedrin 105a). This type of brazenness is seen in people who buy positions of leadership without being worthy of them. They conquer these roles by force, and lead us in the direction of their hearts. They don’t adhere to the dictates of the Shepherd.
This is why the ADL is more obsessed with persecution of Sodomites and perverts than they are of Israelis who get harassed with the worst verbal vile for wanting to see the World Cup.
The ADL protests G-d-fearing Israeli lawmakers like Itamar Ben Gvir and Moshe Gafni rather than direct their arrows at heathen democratic lawmakers like Ihan Omar or Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.
Take a look at the results.
We are losing – even as we are winning.
There is no need to transform Israel or the Jewish People into a state of Jewish Law.
We are already bound to it.
Redemption comes when we, the sheep, ignore the dogs of our time, their influence, and their rules. Instead, we acknowledge the rule of G-d and look only to our Shepherd.
He will lead us to the Promised Land of all time.

Isaiah 45:7. HaShem is in control and at the end His will, will be done everywhere. We should learn to trust and our Emuna will continue to grow and we can share this Emuna with those who are hopeless.
