The War of Google Under Our Noses 

A friend related to me how he was horrified to hear what his niece wanted to dress up as for Purim.

Christina Aguilera.  

“She is a Beis Ya’akov girl. How did she even hear about such a person?”

“YouTube.”

“Your family doesn’t have television. You don’t allow anyone access to these sites.”

“My niece has a smartphone to talk to her parents. One of her friends figured out how to use the internet function and they started playing with YouTube.”

The spiritual war of Gog and Magog is being waged under our noses for the last quarter century. Our enemy is even named “Gog”.  

It’s called Google. We should remember what we are up against by calling it “Gog-le”. 

They are invading. I have heard so many horror stories from religious families about how the media is retraining their children’s young minds to ignore everything they learned in yeshiva. 

The Media is Trying to Destroy our Way of Life 

What does GoGle control to get into our minds and reprogram our brains?  

Everything.  

They monitor your email with Gmail. They monitor your internet usage with Chrome, a web browser that gets you onto the internet in the first place. They operate your smartphone with Android, the operating system that makes it work. They track your driving with Google Maps. They see everything you do online with Google Analytics. They know what you like with Google AdSense.  

With every move you make, Gog is watching, learning, and finding better ways to seize control of the Divine soul God gives you. 

With annual revenues of a quarter trillion dollars and a cash balance the size of the national economy of Hungary, they can afford to buy a journalist or two, or a congressman.   

When we type a word into Google’s search engine, Google influences what websites we enter by the list of search results it shows us.  

I did a search in Google on the term “Israel.” The top four results were articles from The Jerusalem Post, The Times of Israel, and Haaretz, three very secular and left-wing publications. One option had a huge gay flag encouraging me to learn about what it means to be a homosexual in Israel.  

Later on, I am invited to see more videos about gay events in Israel or to read another article about Israel by The New York Times. 

Their New Name 

What are they attempting? World domination.  

It looks like they might have achieved it.  

They want more. For the first time since Nimrod, they are launching a full assault on Hashem.  

In the first line of the first book of our Torah, it says:  

:בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית בָּרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֵ֥ת הָאָֽרֶ 

“In the beginning, when Hashem created heaven and earth.” (Bereshit 1:1)  

Before the words “heaven and earth”, there is an “et” (אֵ֥ת), a grammatical operator. The Sages explain that the “et,” is made of alef and tuf, the first and last letter of the Hebrew language.  

God created the universe with words. He made existence from the letters of His Holy language.  

Now, GoGle is renaming itself. Its new name is Alphabet. Alphabet as in Alpha-Beta, the Greek language. “Alphabet”, as in “We make the world by controlling all of the letters contained within. 

Which Side Are We On? 

As formidable as Google may appear in our world, the match, or shall I say mismatch, is laughable.  

Like every other massive empire that came onto the scene to challenge Hashem, His Torah, and His nation, they made a big noise only to scamper off in a small squeak.  

God reminds us of this every day.  

God thwarts the designs of peoples. Many designs are in a man’s heart, but the counsel of Hashem, only it will prevail. The counsel of Hashem will endure forever, the designs of His heart throughout the generations. 

We recite this prayer every day, including Shabbat, in the Yehi Kavod potion of the Pesukie D’Zimrah section of our Shacharit morning prayers.  

The Hebrew word for “designs” is the same Hebrew word for “computers.” Let’s “Google Translate” this: 

God thwarts the computers of peoples. Many computers are in a man’s heart, but the counsel of Hashem, only it will prevail. The counsel of Hashem will endure forever, the computers of His heart throughout the generations.  

Maybe Hashem is hinting to us that computers manipulated by man, for his own purposes, will ultimately fail. Computers used to serve God and His Divine purpose in His world, will be the ones in operation for all time.  

Just like Egypt, Rome, Greece, Gog, Magog, and Google … no matter how much their power looks absolute, it’s all a test from the All Mighty.  

He is the one at the Grand Keyboard.
