My Rebbe – Maran Ovadia Yosef

I came before him, a student standing before the Rav 

His entire being shone like an angel, like the sun at sunrise 

Inside his room he sat, the Torah of Hashem is his entire life 

And the light went from his house to the whole world 

I came before him, like a son standing before his father 

And he looked deep into my eyes and I saw love 

Bringing every Jew closer as an only child 

And everyone is crying over him, oh … my Maran 

Everyone’s father! 

The whole world mourns, so painful – 

Father of the nation! 

Comfort me, my friend, all of Israel 

I miss you but also know that 

You are watching us from afar 

Do not stop praying, my Maran! 

Tzaddik, Foundation of the world, a Rav that everyone loved 

He gave over his soul for all Israel! 

It is worth crying about, all that remains is to wait 

Until Mashiach comes and we see him again 

Everyone’s father!
