The Happy Clay Digger, Part 1
Once there was a poor man who lived his whole life
Simply and happily with his cute little wife
He used to make his living by digging up clay
He sold it in the flea market for very little pay.
Day after day he dug and he dug
He worked very hard – he was no slug!
And day after day he worked with a smile
‘Till he had lots of clay in a neat little pile.
One day during his daily dig in the mud
The shovel wouldn’t move and he heard a loud “thud”.
What could it be? The ditch digger wanted to know
And he got down on his knees and he saw something glow.
What is that glowing? What could it be?
It’s some kind of gem… maybe a ruby?
He ran to get the gem appraised
And the appraiser stood there looking amazed!
Do you realize what you’ve found? It’s a very rare Gem!
It’s a red diamond from Peru – called a Rubakalem
No one in this town can afford what it’s worth
There are not many people who could afford it on earth!
You should go to London to visit the queen
She’ll buy it for sure – let’s wipe it clean
They cleaned it until it started to shine
They knew in their hearts this gift was divine.
