Living in a Turkey World, Part 1
Once upon a time, in a far away kingdom, there lived a mighty king who had everything a king could want. Most beloved of all was his son, the prince. Unfortunately, the prince went crazy and decided he was a turkey. He took off all his clothes and clucked around under the king’s fancy dining room table. He refused to eat the royal food, preferring to peck at bones and table scraps. He flapped around with his silly paper wings and clucked so loud the guests of the palace needed to wear earplugs when they came to see the king. The king also provided shin guards to his guests to protect their legs from the turkey prince’s pecking.
The king was so upset. He sent notices across the land to the greatest doctors, psychologists, and hypnotists. One doctor came to the palace, observed the turkey prince and said he would give him a pill that would calm his constant flapping. The pill just made him have frequent accidents and kept him up through the night, clucking louder than ever.
The psychologist tried to get to the root of the problem by validating his turkey feelings. The turkey prince, oblivious to the psycho babble kept pecking at the frustrated shrink’s ankles until he ran away in tears. The king loved his son so much and didn’t know what to do. All the money and power in the world left him helpless.
One day, a wise man showed up at the palace. He had heard of the king’s dilemma and was confident that he could cure the turkey prince. Boldly, he announced to the king that he would be able to remedy his precious son.
At this point, the king had nothing to lose. The wise man continued to explain that his methods might seem a little unconventional but that he needed to do things his way. The king agreed and instructed all his servants to do exactly as the wise man said, even if what he asked seemed weird…
To be continued, G-d willing.
