Eishet Chayil
Composed by Shlomo Hamelech, Eishet Chayil (Mishlei 31:10-31) is recited on Friday night, after ‘Shalom Aleichem” and prior to reciting Kiddush. The song alphabetically praises the Eishet Chayil (the ‘ideal woman’) with verses beginning with all the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. The Rabbis said that, on a deeper level, the “Eishet Chayil” is speaking about the Torah.
