Eliyahu HaNavi said: “Once I was traveling from one place to another. A man came with me and we spoke in words of Torah. He asked me: “Rebbe, I have two things in my heart that I love very much—Torah and the people of Israel. Which should come first?’ I answered: ‘People are wont to say that Torah comes before everything, but I say that the holy people of Israel come first.’” (Tanna d’Bei Eliyahu).
