The Schottenstein Edition Talmud Bavli, Large (Hebrew)
The Schottenstein Edition Talmud Bavli, Large (Hebrew)
This is the Schottenstein Edition Talmud Bavli by Artscroll-Mesorah. The 73 volumes of this edition took 15 years to work on by a team of accomplished scholars. In 2012 the Hebrew edition was completed and has since been acclaimed by a broad spectrum of scholars and laymen for filling the need of making the Gemara accessible to the public at large without sacrificing quality of understanding and learning.
How was this amazing feat accomplished? Opposite each traditional Gemara page of the Vilna Shas with commentary by Rashi and Tosfot is a Shas Schottenstein page with commentary and notes. The translatoin of the aramaic is printed in bold with commentary in regular font.
Each Schottenstein page includes a photocopy of the traditional page from the Oz VeHadar edition of the Talmud alongside commentary and explanation of the Talmudic text, based mostly on the Rishonim and Achronim. The explanatory page has two main parts: the top contains an explanation that includes a verbatim translation, punctuation and conjunctions to the Aramaic together with a long explanation of the subject of the issue at hand. The bottom part contains notes about the top part, including a longer and deeper commentary that includes referals as well as summaries of the main discussions of the Talmud commentaries.
