The Koren Machzor for Yom Ha’atzmaut and Yom Yerushalayim

This machzor is the first English-Hebrew prayer book of its kind for Israel’s national holidays and incorporates complete services for Israel’s Independence Day and Jerusalem Day as established by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

The machzor features a moving introduction by Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, translation by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, commentary by Rabbi Moshe Taragin and Rabbi Binyamin Lau. Optional prayers such as Hallel and Al-HaNissim are shaded and include extensive notes that explain the halachic debates surrounding their recitation.

The essay section examines the theological, philosophical, and halachic implications of the modern State of Israel. Contributors include: R. Yehuda Amital (zt”l), Dr. Erica Brown, R.
