Game – “The Race for Shabbat”
The Race for Shabbat
A game that encourages observance of others’ needs and development of social skills
For example, you do not know if your neighbor has enough provisions for Shabbat. What should you do?
During the game, participants learn how to judge favorably, encourage helpful observance, and avoid “trouble.” Participants study halakhic and mitzvot details, experience charitable giving, and are educated to give up something that they have in exchange for the merit to observe mitzvot!
Goals of the game
To feel the importance of Shabbat, and to experience in an almost tangible way the preparations for Shabbat and the feeling of satisfaction that comes from achieving the goal.
To experience the good feeling of coming to Shabbat in peace and quiet, when everything is ready.
To never forget during the race towards Shabbat that there is also a learning schedule and other mitzvot, which must also be done on Friday.
To carry out instructions, to be patient (waiting in line, traffic jams, etc.), the dignity of others, and more.
How do you play?
Voters participate in the role of “Bank Manager” and he distributes NIS 18,000 to each participant and one medal. Devour the card parcels and place them face down in the designated place on the board. Each participant chooses a soldier for him and puts him in the “Paradise Hotel”.
Each participant in turn drops both dice and advances accordingly. Upon reaching the target square, he must follow the instructions that correspond to that slot.
End of the game – when the medals run out of bank. A participant who holds the largest number of medals and at least seven “buy mitzvah” cards is the winner.
