Food Baskets for Sukkot Holiday 5787
You have the incredible merit that the family of a poor Torah scholar in the Holy Land will enjoy the Sukkot holiday because of you! Rabbi Arush teaches that the Ushpizin only come to the Sukkah of someone who sponsored a meal for a poor person that night.
Jewish law requires us to be concerned about the welfare of the poor, and especially during the holidays, when the many holiday expenditures make life even more difficult for an already struggling family. The Gemara promises that when we make the holidays joyous for others, Hashem makes our holidays joyous for us.
It states in the Zohar: “When the People of Israel leave their homes and enter the sukkah for the sake of Hashem’s Name, they merit to welcome the Divine presence there, and all the seven shepherds descend from Gan Eden and come to the sukkah as their guests.”
Hundreds of food baskets will be distributed to poor Torah scholars and their families for festive Sukkot meals. The baskets will contain wine, challot, chicken, fish, fruit, vegetables, and cooking basics like flour, sugar, and oil.
Your contribution can be made as a single donation or divided up to five months. You can donate for a large, medium, or small family according to the recommended amounts. Alternatively, you can specify a different donation amount. The suggested minimum donation is $54 – enough to sponsor a basic meal for a poor person for each night of Sukkot.
After your online contribution is processed, a receipt will be generated and sent to the email address that we have on file for you. Be sure to send the receipt to donations@breslev.co.il along with the names of the people (first and middle name and mother’s first and middle name) for whom the donation is being dedicated. Those names will be forwarded to Rabbi Arush.
All donations must be made by the evening of 23-Sep (Wednesday) so that the food can be ordered and delivered to the families before erev Sukkot.
