Food Baskets for Shabbat

More than 600 food baskets are distributed monthly to needy families in Jerusalem. The daily baskets contain two loaves of bread, two liters of milk and several containers of cheese, which are distributed to families in financial distress. Shabbat baskets, containing chicken, fish, fruit and vegetables, cooking basics like flour, sugar and oil, and wine are distributed on Thursdays in addition to the basic food basket.

This is in addition to approximately 7,500 hot meals provided monthly.

The annual budget for food baskets is $100,000.

To sponsor a basket for a needy family:
  • A small basket for a family of 2-4 is $600 a month / $150 a week
  • A medium basket for a family of 5-7 people is $800 a month / $200 a week
  • A large basket for a family of 8+ people is $1000 a month / $250 a week

Rabbi Arush prays daily for everyone who supports Chut shel Chessed and spreads emuna on a monthly basis multiple times a day, including in his personal prayers, every time he recites the Blessing after Meals, and more. Rabbi Arush has spoken multiple times about how important these prayers are, and that people who give even in larger one-time amounts truly lose out. Now, these special prayers will be yours too, if you select monthly donation on the next screen.

With larger donations you will receive gifts and surprises! A favorite is our new “Tikkun Klali” necklace, which is not available in the store, but can be yours if you donate at least $50 a month for a year. Gifts are subject to availability and are not guaranteed. Contact staff@breslev.co.il or call us for more information.
