Food Baskets for Shabbat

More than 600 food baskets are distributed monthly to needy families in Jerusalem. The daily baskets contain two loaves of bread, two liters of milk and several containers of cheese, which are distributed to families in financial distress. Shabbat baskets, containing chicken, fish, fruit and vegetables, cooking basics like flour, sugar and oil, and wine are distributed on Thursdays in addition to the basic food basket.

 

This is in addition to approximately 7,500 hot meals provided monthly.

 

The annual budget for food baskets is $100,000.

 

To sponsor a basket for a needy family:
  • A small basket for a family of 2-4 is $600 a month / $150 a week
  • A medium basket for a family of 5-7 people is $800 a month / $200 a week
  • A large basket for a family of 8+ people is $1000 a month / $250 a week
