Trust Trump? Trust God!
There is a phrase in the MAGA movement: Trust Trump. If we can put our trust in a mortal to do the best for his people because he really wants what is best for them – should we not trust G-d as well?

President Trump recently posted a picture with the phrase: Trust Trump.
This phrase has been repeated many times among the community of his supporters. At various points, such as before President Trump attacked Iran after threatening to do so, and some time had passed since the threats of being “locked and loaded” and nothing had happened – many people used this phrase.
I considered its meaning. The basic idea is that for the first time in many people’s memory the President of the United Status actually serves his people. He cares about his people and his country and works for them – not special interests. It’s part of why he is so successful – already a billionaire, he can’t be bought off. A successful real estate tycoon, he knows how to run a big enterprise.
And he cares about people. One incredible story is about how he saved the life of a young Jewish boy. Long before Hatzalah Air existed, the toddler was too sick to safely board a regular commercial flight, and no airline was willing to fly him from LA to NY for his only hope for treatment – and life. A friend heard that Donald Trump had a good heart and was a philanthropist, and might just be willing to give them his private jet. Trump didn’t hesitate and although the boy died some 10 years later, there is no question that at that point Trump saved his life. See here – Snopes fact check – true.
So, the idea is that we can trust Trump to do his very best for the average American, even when things don’t make sense, or we don’t understand a delay, or a specific policy. He knows what he is doing, he knows classified information that we don’t know, we know he is working in our best interests – trust Trump!
I said to myself: “Hey wait a minute! With all due respect to President Trump, excuse me, he is but flesh and blood. He might mean well, but he is inevitably human. He doesn’t get it all right all the time. He knows a lot more than we do, but no one besides Hashem knows it all. He certainly has lots of classified information – but no one knows EVERYTHING like G-d does! No one besides Hashem knows how it will all work out, and decides how it will all work out – down to the most minute detail. If we are told to trust Trump – how much more must we trust Hashem?!”
The truth is that the allegory works perfectly. If we can trust that President Trump is working in our best interests, then how much more should we trust the Creator – who created us, who loves each and every one of us like an only child, and wants what is good for us even more than the good that we want for ourselves.
So often, we see in retrospect that indeed Hashem did know what was best for us, and did good for us, even when at the time we thought it was bad – perhaps even the worst thing ever. And even when we don’t understand, anyway, we must trust – because G-d has our best interests in mind!
I mean, if Trump cares about the average American, so is it possible that G-d would care less for each and every one of His creations?! There are many stories about how much G-d cares even for the tiniest creation – then all the more so for humans, the pinnacle of creation!
The key here is working on our emuna, and specifically, on our bitachon – our trust in Hashem. Rabbi Arush explains that bitachon is the base which enables us to feel emuna.
First, we have to trust G-d – know that we are in His loving Hands, that all His decisions are for the very best for us and that He knows what He is doing – even and especially when it doesn’t make sense. That deep trust now enables us to feel deep emuna – and truly believe and feel that rock solid faith that G-d is indeed at our side, and it will work out for the very best, and our job now is to do our best to repent and try to understand the hidden message, and no matter what – just simply believe and not fall into despair or sadness.
So, use your trust in President Trump – or whoever you trust to love you and do the very best for you, always, no matter what – to help you trust in G-d all that much more!
