How AI Uncovers the Greatness of God

Look how great Hashem is - AI centers need 488 trillion watt-hours  of energy  to  answer a question, but your God-given brain does it with the energy from a single bowl of cornflakes.

Just like .com 30 years ago, mobile 20 years ago, and the cloud in the last decade, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is slated to make everything newer, faster, and better.

You have to admit, a computer that understands your every word and delivers the answers to all your questions . . . on demand . . . is a pretty impressive invention.

It gives us a taste of the even greater invention God gives us – our brain. His all-natural “device” answers our questions in real time, enabling us to live a life that is newer, faster, and better.

The newly designed AI computer chips and the data centers that are needed to enable the computers to think like us require a global demand of 488 trillion watt-hours of electricity each year.1

Maintaining an entire AI data center so that you can ask ChatGPT the simple question, “When was Ashkelon founded?”, requires tremendous energy!

To answer this question by using the brain that Hashem gives you requires the energy from a single bowl of cornflakes!

The Reasoning

When you journey inside the bowels of how AI works, you discover that it’s a replica of the brain.

Millions of servers are interconnected to share terabytes of information, enabling computers to think like us. How do they do it? Pattern recognition. These servers saved trillions upon trillions of conversations, message chats, books, articles, TV shows, and phone calls, and they can detect patterns in our speech.

When I say “Hi,” AI looks into its mega-brain and searches for occurrences of “Hi.” When it determines that the most common response is “Hello there,” it replies “Hello there.”

Isn’t this how we were trained?

I learned to say hello to greet someone because I saw my father and my grandfather do it when I was young. I saw a pattern: They smiled at someone and said hello, and the person started talking to them.

For me, it was easy. I had a few examples that set the pattern, and I followed it for the rest of my life.

For us Jews, it’s even easier. When we follow the patterns that our Sages set for us over the last four thousand years, we cannot go wrong.

At every moment, the brain that Hashem gives us receives millions of different types of stimuli from all around us.2 These stimuli come from the light in the room, the people around us, the smell in the area, and every detail of everything in sight.

Under hypnosis, you can recall every tiny detail of everywhere you ever were. The brain that Hashem gave you keeps it all in memory – without the need for a single light bulb – let alone 488 trillion!

How Awesome Is This!

… מָֽה־רַבּ֬וּ מַֽעֲשֶׂ֨יךָ ה’ כֻּ֖לָּם בְּחָכְמָ֣ה עָשִׂ֑יתָ

How great are Your works, O Lord! You have made them all with wisdom… (Psalm 104: 24)

Our brains might be just 2% of our body weight, but they consume 20% of our energy.

On a daily diet of 2,000 calories — a bowl of cornflakes is all we need to power our brain. Those 400 calories feed over 86 billion neurons inside our brain that process information. Our brain has more connections than any computer system on earth. What Hashem puts in our head is more sophisticated than the technology man has built.

The brain that Hashem gives us never shuts down. His brain is better than AI because the best these systems can promise is 99.999% availability. They need multiple backup systems to keep things going because server farms constantly shut down.

We have one brain. No backups. No nodes. Hashem gives our brain 100% availability – unheard of in technology.

Did you know that you cannot tickle yourself? When you try, your brain knows who is doing it and “turns off the tickle.” Your brain changes reality.

Our brain also filters out a lot of those millions of stimuli all around us, so that we can focus on what’s important.

Our brains feel, react, sense, and love — AI only processes data.

The most basic LLM AI “brain” can cost half a million dollars. The systems powering ChatGPT reach into the billions of dollars. In contrast, Hashem gives us our minds for free.

Life itself is a gift, along with everything He blesses us with to live it.

Even computers are just reflections of His generosity — tools that hint at a far greater design and Designer.

What will you build today with the power God gives you?
