How Much I Love You

My darling child, do you know how much I love you?

When you are still asleep in the morning, I sit on your bed and smile at your peaceful, angelic face. I wake you up with sweet kisses and gentle strokes of your hair.

When you run around the house, trying to avoid getting dressed and ready for school, I desperately chase you in many futile attempts to drag you to the bathroom and brush your teeth. Then I practically hold you down as I force your protesting arms and legs through your shirt and pants.

My sweetheart, do you think I love you any less than when you were sleeping?

When I send you off to school, my heart feels an emptiness that can only be filled by your presence. My angel, I think of you all day and pray for your well-being. I greatly anticipate the moment you will return from school, so I can give you a great big hug and kiss.

When I catch myself yelling at you to do your homework as you stubbornly refuse, I am nearly bursting with frustration and anger. When I put you in time-out because you hit your brother with the broom, I am ready to keep you in your room for the rest of the night.

My baby, do you think I love you any less than when you’re in school?

When you aren’t feeling well, my heart breaks for your suffering. I wish I could take it all away. If you only knew how much pain I feel to see you in pain- there’s nothing worse for me.

When I have to give you medicine that you hate or make you blow your nose to help you breathe, I’m not torturing you, my precious. I am only doing what a loving parent is supposed to do.

You are the light of my life, and you must always trust that I want what’s best for you. Even when you don’t understand why I do what I do, you should believe that I am doing what I hope will make you happiest in your life. If you have any questions or doubts, just ask me, and I will do my best to enlighten you.

Nothing in the world makes me happier than when you spend time with me. I want you to tell me all about your day, your challenges, your triumphs. I am here just for you, and I always want you to remember this.

My child, if you only knew how much I love you, you would never be sad! You would jump for joy knowing that there is someone in the world who values you and cares for you more than anything.

My grown-up child, do you know how much I love you?

In My desire to share, I formed you from My very essence. I gave you a part of Myself, a part that will shine within you throughout your life.

I created this beautiful world and universe just for you; so you can enjoy its wonders and desire to come closer to Me.

There is nothing that I want more than to see you happy. When you cry, I cry with you. When you laugh, I laugh with you.

I am always with you, loving you, supporting you, even though you do not see Me.

When you are headed down the wrong path, I am here to guide you back to the right one. Sometimes you don’t want to heed My guidance, and you get upset and frustrated.

My darling child, do you think I love you any less when I try to teach you right from wrong?

When you are at risk of forgetting all about Me, I have to send you reminders that I am here and looking out for your well-being.

Sometimes those reminders are harsh, because you cannot see the long-term spiritual dangers you have put yourself in. If you were to jump in front of a car, would I not quickly and forcefully grab you and pull you back to safety? If you came home caked in mud, would I not rush you to the shower and scrub you clean, even though you may yell and cry in protest?

My most special child, do you think I love you any less when I have to discipline you or clean you up?

You are the light of My life, and you must always trust that I want what’s best for you. Even when you don’t understand why I do what I do, you should believe that I know what will make you happiest in your life. If you have any questions or doubts, just ask Me, and I will do My best to enlighten you.
