Sound of the Siren

U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, along with other members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, sent letters in June 2012 to the inspector generals in the Departments of State, Defense, Justice, Homeland Security and the Office of National Intelligence. The purpose of the letters, in Bachmann’s words, was to “request a multi-department investigation into potential Muslim Brotherhood infiltration into the United States government.”
 
Whether you love or hate Michele Bachmann’s political views, the fact is she is a member of House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. And the fact is her multi-sourced letters included documented proof that fronts for the international Muslim Brotherhood has indeed advised organizations and individuals in the U.S. government.
 
Yet the mainstream media chose to ignore the letter’s message of a national security risk and instead focused on one of the letters which stated that the State Department’s Deputy Chief of Staff and long-time Hillary Clinton aide, Huma Abedin, “has three family members — her late father, her mother and her brother — connected to Muslim Brotherhood operatives and/or organizations. Her position provides her with routine access to the Secretary and to policy-making.”
 
The media and political opponents erupted over this. Even Senator John McCain, a fellow Republican, lambasted Michelle Bachman’s letter by calling it a “specious and degrading” attack against a fellow American.
 
So both in the mainstream media and on the Senate floor, the threat the Muslim Brotherhood poses to America was dismissed.
 
Yet this threat is real; the Muslim Brotherhood has implanted itself in America. And this should be alarming to American Jews for one reason: the Brotherhood is a surviving ally of Hitler’s Germany who is still bent on exterminating Jews.
The Brotherhood's founder, Hassan al-Banna, devoutly admired Adolf Hitlerand the Third Reich. And Hitler rewarded him for it. In the 1930s, Hitler supplied weapons, money, men and propaganda to his fledgling fundamentalist Islamic group, teaching it to direct its hate and anger on Jews. Under Hitler’s guidance, the Muslim Brotherhood’s membership grew from 800 to one million—and the hatred of Jews became central to Middle-East politics. Hitler’s regime also helped the Muslim Brotherhood start the modern jihadi movement and focus on genocide against the Jews.
 
During World War Two, the head of the Muslim Brotherhood was Haj Amin al-Husseinithe Mufti of Jerusalem. This Muslim Brother had already been a career Jew-hater for decades before the War. In 1941, he fled to Berlin and met with Hitler to help bring the Final Solution to the Middle East. While in Berlin, the Mufti gave a daily radio broadcast spewing Nazi hate propaganda against the Jews. It was the most popular radio program in the Middle East throughout World War Two (Iranian Ayatollah Khomeini was an avid listener).
 
The Muslim Brother Mufti also recruited 20,000 Muslim volunteers to Hitler’s SS, who gladly joined the Germans in killing Jews in Croatia and Hungary. What’s more, he had blocked negotiations to bring thousands of Jewish children to what was then called Palestine, effectively sealing their fate and handing them over to the Nazi gas chambers.
 
When World War Two ended, the United States and Britain knew of the Mufti’s war crimes but decided not to prosecute him; they were afraid of damaging relations with the Arab world. France allowed him to escape to Egypt in 1946. Around the same time, Nazi officers also escaped to Egypt; these Nazis directly trained members of the Muslim Brotherhood (which included arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat).
 
Over the past several decades, the Nazi-trained Muslim Brotherhood has expanded beyond Egypt and is now successfully operatingin America.
 
A 2010 report published by the Center for Security Policy entitled, Shariah: The Threat to America states that the Brotherhood is “already embedded deep inside both the United States and our allies,” becoming “highly skilled in exploiting the civil liberties and multicultural proclivities of Western societies for the purpose of destroying the latter from within.” What’s worse, it also states that “our leaders have failed to perceive – let alone respond effectively to – the real progress being made by the Muslim Brotherhood in insinuating shariah into the very heartland of America through stealthy means.”
 
The report goes on to list several Muslim Brotherhood fronts flourishing in the United States. One is the Muslim Student Association (MSA), the country’s most influential Islamic student organization with chapters at every major American university and college. According to the report, the MSA is a “point of recruitment for the Muslim Brotherhood and for jihadis.” The report also points out that “MSA members routinely express admiration and support for terror organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah” and that “MSA leaders have made statements calling for the killing of all Jews.”
 
The largest Muslim Brotherhood front in North America is the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). Since its founding in 1980, it has been run by senior Muslim Brotherhood leaders in North America and has grown to include more than 300 community and professional organizations in the U.S. and Canada. Shockingly, the U.S. government has repeatedly turned to the ISNA as its leading “educational” and “outreach” partner in the Muslim-American community, including such agencies as the Departments of State, Defense, Homeland Security and the FBI.
 
Another Muslim Brotherhood front is the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). Wikipedia defines CAIR as “America's largest Muslimcivil libertiesadvocacy organization that dealswith civil advocacy.” CAIR was formed by Hamas leaders following a meeting of senior Hamas operatives in the United States. Hamas, by the way, was created by the Muslim brotherhood and is identified as a Muslim Brotherhood entity in Article Two of the Hamas Covenant. (Article Seven of the Hamas Covenant calls for the killing of all Jews.)
 
Though CAIR was listed as “unindicted co-conspirators” in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation criminal trial (it was the largest terrorism finance trial in American history with $12 million being funneled to Hamas), mainstream media still turn to CAIR as a credible resource. As recent as July 2012, U.S. News & World Report gave CAIR the last word in an article entitled, “Michele Bachmann Sticks to Accusations about Muslim Brotherhood: Bachmann and Colleagues Continue to Dig in Their Heels over Muslim Brotherhood Infiltration.”
 
According to the Center for Security Policy’s report, there are many more organizations in the U.S. that are either fronts or friends of the Muslim Brotherhood.
 
Though it may sound far-fetched that the Muslim Brotherhood could actually take over the United States or have strong influence over U.S. leaders, it also sounded far-fetched in the 1920s that a Jew-obsessed lunatic with a Charlie Chaplin mustache and his German beer-hall thugs would take over the Weimar Republic and systematically murder six million Jewish men, women and children.
 
It should be remembered that Hitler won a democratic election during a time of economic crisis. Today, we are also facing a serious economic crisis. In an October 9, 2012 Wall Street Journal article, the International Monetary Fund warned that “risks for a serious global slowdown are alarmingly high” and that the “new downturn would be tougher to tame.” Throughout history, Jews were usually the first ones blamed and victimized when the economy tanked. Many of us can still remember the bumper stickers that said “Burn Jews Not Oil” during the 1973 Arab oil embargo.
 
With global anti-Semitism on the rise, these are especially perilous times. It doesn’t take a prophet to see the gathering storm clouds both in terms of security and the economy. We’re also clearly on the brink of another world war, and the Muslim Brotherhood both in the U.S. and in the Middle East is preparing for victory. Astonishingly, the U.S. government has recently pledged a $1 billion aid package to the Muslim Brotherhood-run Egypt, despite America’s staggering $16 trillion debt. Moreover, the relationship between the U.S. government and Israel has never seemed more strained than it is now.
 
I’ve often wondered what I would have done if I lived in Europe in the 1930s. Would I shrug my shoulders and ignore the warning signs? Would I view current events as wake-up calls from Heaven? Would I start packing my bags and immigrate to Israel while it’s still possible to do so?
 
It seems we Jews may now again be living in the 1930s. And whether we believe that or not, or whether we can leave or not, there’s one thing each one of us can do. We can pray. We can pray like our lives depend on it.
 
Because it does.
 
What's more, we can also heed the sound of the siren calling us to return to our real home, the Land of Israel.
