The Cover of Darkness

When we look around, the world seems to be going in a downward spiral. In this very darkness, Hashem is setting the stage for the return of the Kingdom of David.

As our world gets covered in darkness, the true light shine brighter and brighter.

First there was darkness, then there was light. To this day, we begin to celebrate Shabbat and Yom Tov in the evening to remember that everything great is born in the dark.

It’s when things are at their worst that the light of the next redemption appears.

In 1942, it looked like the forces of evil were about to swallow mankind. It was then that the forces of freedom turned the tide. In 1982, after 16 years of interest rates and inflation pounding the American stock market as well as a ruthless communist regime looking to swallow up central Asia, the world began to experience the explosion of peace and prosperity we feel to this very day.

Today, as the world appears to be dominated by darkness, the light of Mashiach is blazing before our eyes.

Come December, the days get short. It starts to rain. The weather gets cold. Darkness holds the majority of time. After a few weeks of this, it feels it will go on forever.

That’s when Hashem sends us hints.

Since the beginning of the previous summer, the Land was covered in brown dust. Its soil dried up from the planting and harvesting that were followed by months of sunlight. After the first rain, the grass begins to sprout. A week later, the entire landscape is one big sea of green.

Before all the pundits tell you how they think the stock market will perform or before a ground hog pops out of a hole to tell you whether spring will arrive, Hashem makes His decree:

We will all eat this year.

By showering His rain upon the earth, the cows will graze and we will have both milk and meat. The wheat will grow and we will have flour. Fruits and vegetables of all types will emerge from the earth and both man and beast will be satiated.

The first rains are the first uptick from the doldrums of winter.

He then sends us the Rakefet. These are light purple flowers that sprout in almost every Israeli forest. They are a light pastel color. A breath of spring amid the frosty winds.

It’s only the beginning.

The Rakefet is quickly followed by the Savion, a daisy-like flower with bright yellow pedals like the sun.

Then comes the main event: the Calanit. By mid-February, just before we welcome the month of Adar, the Land is carpeted with millions of fiery red flowers.

While in bloom, the Calanit are accompanied by the pastel bouquet that blossoms during Pesach.

It all starts in the darkest of night. Under the cover of cold and fog emerge the beginning of greater days.

The Real Winter

The same can be said for the world. While we are all blinded by a constant stream of transgender boxers, senile presidents, and crazy divas, something amazing is happening in Israel:

🐪 Israel has become the most powerful nation in the Middle East

🐪 The Arab nations are lining up to become our ally

🐪 Our per capita GDP has risen higher than Japan, France, and Britain

🐪 Our per capita net wealth (national income minus national debt divided by the total population) is greater than America

🐪 One out of every three Israeli Jews is Torah-observant

🐪 The decline of America and Europe is accelerating

🐪 Israeli debt and inflation are receding while that of China, America, and Europe are ballooning

🐪 Jews from Europe, America, Ukraine, and Russia are coming to Israel at a pace not seen in over two decades

Israel has become a regional super power and is well on its way to becoming a global one. We are the spiritual superpower of the world. We always, Baruch Hashem, have been.

As the darkness of Kim Kardashian, Joe Biden and their friends steer our attention into outer space, right before our eyes Hashem is setting the stage for the return of the Kingdom of David.

It’s happening under the cover of darkness. But darkness, like the winter and the night, share the same truth:

They inevitably surrender to the light.

The Rakefet will grow to full bloom. The winter will give way to spring. Night will turn into day.

The deep thick of black that covers the world and handcuffs Israel will disappear and our eyes will be opened to what’s standing right in front of us.

Most beautiful message of hope. In the midst of darkness the light of HaShem will radiate to all who truly seek it out.
