When Rebbe Yehuda the Prince wished to argue on the words of Rebbe Yosi, he would say: “How can we, who are so lowly, argue on the words of Rebbe Yosi? The gap between Rebbe Yosi and us is like the divide between the Holy of Holies and the profane of the profane.” Rebbe Yishmael, the son of Rebbe Yosi said: “The difference between our generation and my father’s generation is like the difference between gold and dust.”
