Ten portions of holiness came down into the world – Jerusalem got nine and the rest of the world got one.

ירושלים עיר הקודש, עיר שלםה, ירושלים אורה של עולם 

Jerusalem, the Holy City, the perfect City, Jerusalem – the Light of the World.

 

כולנו ביום ירושלים נתפלל ותחזה עיננו בשובך לציון ברחמים

All of us pray and fix our eyes on Your return to Tzion in mercy.

 

אנא ה’! השב העבודה לדביר ביתך ובנה ירושלים עירך 

Please G-d! Think of the avodah (Temple services) in Your sanctuary and build Your city of Jerusalem.

 

ירושלים, ירושלים! ה’, בנה בית המקדש

Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Hashem, build the Beit Hamikdash – the Holy Temple.

　

השב כהנים לעבודתם ולווים לשירם ולזמרם ותחזנה עיננו בשובך לציון ברחמים

Return the Cohanim to their work, the Leviim to their songs and melodies, and our eyes will gaze on Your return to Tzion in mercy.

 

ברחמים ה’ תשוב לירושלים – בלי שום צרות, בלי שום מגפות, בלי שום קללות, בלי שום מחלות – רק בשמחה, באהבה

In mercy, Hashem, return to Jerusalem without troubles, plague, curses, or sickness – only with joy, love.

 

ירושלים שלך, ירושלים עיר הקודש – אני לא בונה את ירושלים של מעלה עד שאני בונה את ירושלים של מטה

Your Jerusalem, Jerusalem the Holy City, I will not build Jerusalem in Heaven until I build Jerusalem on earth.

 

בנה עירך וקונן מקדשך והשב שכינתך לעיר קודשך, אמן כן יהיה רצון

Build Your city and take possession of Your sanctuary and return Your Shechina to Your holy city. Amen! May it be Your will!
